RAIDWatch Manager

RAIDWatch® Manager (Version 2.X)
Effortless RAID Management
RAIDWatch® Manager is a tailored, full-featured, cross-platform, RAID management software program that provides a user-friendly interface, which graphically represents disk array elements and simplifies the normally complicated process of array configuration. RAIDWatch® Manager can run locally on different platforms.

Highlights
  • User-friendly graphical interface running under Windows, Linux, Solaris, and Mac operating systems compatible with Java Runtime 1.4 or higher
  • Multiple RAID Monitoring: monitor and manage an almost unlimited number of arrays
  • Supports full-featured RAID configurations: monitor and configure logical drive/logical volume, parity configuration, controller self-diagnostics, host-side and drive-side SCSI parameters, controller optimization modes, system functions, etc.
  • Communicates with the controllers over a LAN, the Internet, and over SCSI, iSCSI or Fibre channels
  • Standard TCP/IP connections to Internet agents for worldwide remote management over the network
  • Graphical interface and online help in multiple languages (currently English and Japanese)
  • Three access levels, two with password protection
  • Online RAID expansion
  • Support for SAF-TE, S.E.S., and ISEMS (Simple Enclosure Management Service via I2C) to monitor drive, fan, temperature, and power supply conditions and report failures
  • Controller events managed by a separately installed Configuration Client utility program that runs independently from the RAIDWatch® management application
  • User-configurable event notification functions send notification to any location via email, fax, ICQ, MSN Messenger, SMS short message, LAN broadcast, or SNMP traps
  • Statistic window dedicated to cache hits and sustained read/write performance
  • At-a-glance management of the entire array in separate RAID View, Enclosure View and Statistic View screens
  • Enclosure-oriented view of disk drives for easy identification and display of failed drive location
Remote Management
RAIDWatch® gives system managers a new way to do their job by supporting remote array management over a LAN or the Internet using hybrid TCP/IP agents. A system administrator can manage a RAID system remotely using any standard web browser via the Internet.
Enclosure View
The RAIDWatch® Enclosure View is a specialized graphic customization that shows a direct representation of the RAID subsystem or a controller head in various enclosure view panels of the RAIDWatch® screen. The image is an accurate illustration of the physical device and can be customized to match the look of the drive tray. When the mouse cursor is placed over any active component or lit LED, a message appears showing the status of the respective component. Failed components are easily seen as they are usually marked with a red LED, indicating a failed component.
Multi-Language Support
RAIDWatch® is a useful RAID management tool that is used worldwide. It is currently available in English and Japanese; support for other languages is under development. The language display is easily changed using the language selection on the program menu bar. As soon as a language is selected, the GUI interface, wizards, and online help display the chosen language.
Configuration Client (Utility for Centralized Management)

RAIDWatch® supports a variety of event notification options by setting up Configuration Client, a sub-module of the RAIDWatch® software. With Configuration Client, system managers can effectively monitor the system while working on other tasks.

Events are classified into three severity levels: notifications, warnings, and alerts. Many notification methods are available: email, fax, ICQ, MSN Messenger, SMS short message, LAN broadcast, and SNMP traps.

The Configuration Client program is associated with the Root Agent module of the software and can be launched automatically on boot-up, allowing easy association with multiple arrays. The notification utility itself can also be installed redundantly on two different computers to guarantee users will be notified of events under any circumstances.
Advanced Firmware Functionality
RAIDWatch® supports the latest firmware functionality such as Intelligent Drive Handling, Auto Switch Cache Policy and Auto Shutdown, Scheduled Tasks, Event Triggered Operations, Media Scan and many other leading edge features.
System Requirements
  • RAID Manager Running on the Host (Server Side)
  • Host must be Pentium or above PC-compatible running Windows 2000, XP, Linux RedHat 8/9, Linux RedHat Enterprise Linux 3.0, LinuxSuse8.1/9.1, Solaris 8/9, or Mac OS X that supports Java Runtime 1.4.2 or higher.
  • RAID Manager Running on Remote Station (Client Side)
  • Host must be Pentium or above PC-compatible running Windows 2000, XP, Linux RedHat 8/9, Linux RedHat Enterprise Linux 3.0, LinuxSuse8.1/9.1, Solaris 8/9, or Mac OS X that supports Java Runtime 1.4.2 or higher.
  • Remote station must be running Netscape 4.7X, IE6.0 or Mozilla 5.0, Java Runtime 1.4.2 (for a particular platform).
  • 256-color or higher mode management station monitor.
  • At least one available RS-232C port is required (if connection to the controller is through the RS-232C).
  • TCP/IP with a valid IP assigned to each controller/subsystem.
  • SNMP service for Windows.
  • A fax modem that supports Hayes AT command protocol is required (if using the fax event notification function).
  • A GSM modem is required (if using the SMS short message event notification function). RAIDWatch® currently supports two GSM modem models:
  • Siemens TC35
  • WAVECOM Fast Rack M1206
